Overview

Folio Scan is a privacy-first document scanner for iPhone. The app is designed to let you scan, edit, merge, export, and protect documents directly on your device.

Information we collect

Folio Scan does not require account creation and does not collect personal information for core app usage.

  • No account is required to use the app
  • No in-app advertising network is used
  • No third-party tracking is used
  • No document upload is required for the core scanning workflow

Documents and files

Documents you scan or import are stored locally on your device as part of the app's normal functionality. If you enable Secure Vault, supported document data is encrypted on device.

Permissions

Camera

Folio Scan requests access to the camera so you can scan paper documents and create PDFs.

Face ID / Touch ID

If you enable App Lock, Folio Scan may use Face ID or Touch ID to help unlock the app and verify sensitive actions.

OCR and recognized text

If you use OCR features, recognized text is generated to improve document search and usability. When Secure Vault settings are enabled, supported OCR data is stored in protected form on device.

Folio Scan does not sell your data. The app does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Data retention

Your documents remain on your device until you delete them. If you remove the app, locally stored app data may also be removed by iOS.

Children's privacy

Folio Scan is not directed to children under 13, and no child-specific data collection is performed by the app.
